oh god I ate the whole thing

Mom and I went to the Art Star Craft Bazaar today.. I should have bought more things, maybe, but I got some business cards and I like getting stuff in the mail so there’s always the internet.

I also got a sunburn because I’m a dumbass who was like, “it says mostly cloudy on the weather report” and then it was NOT CLOUDY AT ALL until I’d already been outside for three hours.

My face aches from keeping my eyes open.

I’ve been waking up at unreasonably early hours and have been unable to go back to sleep for a long time. Linus tried to convince me to stay in bed today, but I got up and went to work. There wasn’t much on my list, so I did it all and took a half day.

Not tired enough to take a nap, I pulled out my drawer of white fabrics, cut pieces from them, divided them into four piles, and put them in four dye baths, each a different strength of hot pink. I had been planning to make a piece for the current Quilting Arts magazine reader challenge - ‘your signature color’ - out of all hot pink fabrics. I don’t usually wear a lot of pink, but boy do I ever love to dye things with it. It was the first dye powder I bought in super jumbo economy size.

The challenge piece is supposed to be small, and the submission date isn’t until June. Still, after I applied to Art for the Cash Poor show, I dragged my feet on the challenge entry. At first I sketched Linus faces, then I was thinking of more op-art colorblocking, but nothing really stuck.

Yesterday, when my parents showed up at my house unexpectedly to tell me about Grammom, I had just put on a pink shirt. They were oddly pleased.. Apparently someone had told Grammom that pink was calming (I have no idea) so when she was feeling bad at the end, she told dad she was thinking pink. And that she was thinking pink because she wanted my baby, her first great grandbaby, to be a girl.

So I think I have some ideas now.

1. My grandmother is in the hospital and will be going into hospice care at my parents’ house when she’s discharged

2. I’m having some kind of muscle spasm in my foot that is driving me up the wall

3. Fetus developed seven elbows at some point and used them all to prevent me from napping earlier today, and is continuing the effort as I try to sleep now, though I just found out about #1 and #2 is really irritating so maybe I just won’t sleep at all tonight WOO.
