There’s a radio station I listen to a lot, WXPN, that broadcasts out of Philly. The guy that hosts the weekday afternoons is obviously a giant music nerd (and I think he’s actually the music director, too), and Monday to Thursday he does the ‘Top 5 at 5’ when he plays five songs with a theme or something. I’m not usually listening to the radio at the time, because...

Last Saturday I talked to someone at a small gallery in New Hope who was interested in selling my scarves, hooray! I was going to go back yesterday with a pile of them, but then Bill’s parents wanted to have brunch today, so I decided to go today. Buuuuut the gallery was closed lololol. At least I have 20 scarves in a bag and ready to go the next time I get up there. When we got home, I...

Crap crap crap.
Sometimes my elbows hurt, from a combination of a million things. Mostly repetitive motion type stuff from sewing. I haven’t been sewing much for months, only small things in half hour spurts, until I did about two hours of hand embroidery this weekend. Now they hurt really quite badly and are making awful grinding noises every time I move. Craaaap. Crap. I don’t know whether to whine...

Bill wanted to do his Saturday 10-mile run up the canal path on the PA side, from Yardley to New Hope. So I dropped him off in Yardley and drove to New Hope to walk around while I was waiting for him. I went into a small local artist gallery and bought a glass plate, plus I talked to the lady running the place, who said I should bring some scarves by next week, because she might like to sell...

A couple weeks ago we got on the subject of Medieval Times, because one of the members of NJ metal band Symphony X used to be a jouster at the one in Lyndhurst. I’ve never been. We decided to go, because hey why the hell not? You can make reservations online, but it says to call instead if you want a vegetarian meal. So Bill just called, and GUESS WHAT, they call you “my lord” on...

I have four pencil cups on my desk, so I can keep various tools organized together and be able to access them all at once. But “pencil cups” means a) a blue plastic Solo cup, b) a small glass jam jar, c) a 20z soda bottle with the top cut off, covered in stickers, and d) the plastic thing a bunch of felting needles came in. So as part of my reorganization effort, I just bought some...

Anatomy scan! Everything looks good! No obvious issues, but we’ll go over the results at my appointment with the regular doctor next week. Baby was a jerk and sitting such that we don’t know the sex. The radiologist said she thought it was a girl, but wouldn’t put money on it. We also brought our moms and they were super excited to see everything. Aww, grandmas.

It was way easier to be lazy two weeks ago, before Hugo got totally obsessed with my iPad. A cat that hates crowding and standing on any surface that is remotely unstable, climbing on the bed, on chairs, on me, o the couch, up on his back legs, peering over pillows, my lap desk, the corners of the thing itself Right now I’m in the recliner, and he’s sitting on the footrest staring at...

I didn’t take a picture of it finished, but I did manage to get the pillowcase together before we left. The tear in the fabric was just from wear, but it had been let go for a while and the edges of the tear didn’t really connect anymore. Originally I thought I might applique over the torn bit, but then I decided it would look and feel weird, since the remaining fabric was so worn. I...

thisisaloveletter: squishythings: The book club is meeting at my house tomorrow. It’s a brunch-time thing. Originally I thought I would make a couple of savory tarts, put out fresh berries, and make cookies for the sweet thing. Now I’ve scratched cookies and either will buy a frosted cake from Wegmans (the round cakes are really… I have dreams where I’m watching myself eat an entire...

The book club is meeting at my house tomorrow. It’s a brunch-time thing. Originally I thought I would make a couple of savory tarts, put out fresh berries, and make cookies for the sweet thing. Now I’ve scratched cookies and either will buy a frosted cake from Wegmans (the round cakes are really good, for store cake), or just make sweet whipped cream or take it two steps further and...

This week, ModCloth had one of their $20 grab bag things - about $70 of ‘unsized accessories’ jammed in a tote bag, with the possibility of getting a pretty expensive designer bag. I’ve always missed out on them, but I caught it this week. And I got one of the designer bags! It’s a giant thing, mostly made of leather, with an owl sort of punched into the front. I...

OKAY so I ended up doing pretty much all the things on that list except con someone into helping me with etsy photos. I haven’t read any of my book yet, either, but I’ll do that when I get in bed. This is because I had one whole real cup of coffee today, isn’t it.

to-do list
(for personal accountability; likelihood any of this gets done: low) 1. Email book club directions to my house 2. Read more of the book for the next meeting (about 150 pages of actual book left; there’s a lot of academic stuff in the back I might not read) 3. Figure out where to hang my thread racks, and then hang them. 4. Start moving books out of old bookcase to new one; put magazines...

Oh goodie, I’m sick! Yesterday my throat hurt and I had such bad sinus headaches that I didn’t eat nearly enough and I didn’t do anything but sit on the couch. Linus sat with me and we watched hours of My Cat From Hell, which only highlighted how awesome my cats are. Went to bed at 9:30 and had a lot of fun trying to breathe all night. Ugh. I feel better today so I’ve...

Linus has the worst poo of all cats I’ve known, and the stench clings to him for soooooo loonnnng. Unfortunately he is entirely too cute and snuggly, so I try to cuddle him and am repulsed by the aura of smells. So sad. Grossest cat.
